You’ve found a role you want to apply for, now it’s time to apply. It’s your opportunity to show off your strengths, experiences, achievements and to share your career aspirations with us. From writing your statement to acing your interview, the tips and advice below will guide you through our application process. This is your chance to let your personality shine through and make your application uniquely ‘you’.

DO

  • Make it clear what you did by using ‘I’ and not ‘we’
  • Describe your role and evidence your skills
  • Provide relevant examples and evidence of the abilities we are looking for
  • Explain how you overcame difficulties and lessons you learned along the way
  • State the outcome and benefits
  • Check your spelling and punctuation is correct

DON'T

  • Give unnecessary detail
  • Include generalisations such as ‘I am always considerate to my colleagues’
  • Paraphrase the job criteria, for example ‘I speak and write effectively’
  • Use clichés like ‘work well individually or as part of a team’ without examples of how you do that
  • Use acronyms or give ambiguous answers
  • Include any personal information about yourself

1. APPLICATION

2. SHORTLISTING

We don’t want to keep you waiting, so you’ll hear from us within 5 working days of the job closing date.

3. INTERVIEW

Our interviews are conducted in person or virtually – we’ll give you lots of notice beforehand. We want you to feel confident on the day. So, be sure to read through the job description in detail, paying particular attention to the essential criteria. Depending on the role you’re applying for, you may be asked to complete vocational, technical or psychometric tests.

4. Job offer

Successful applicants will receive a call from the Hiring Manager to offer you the position. When you accept, you’ll be issued with a contract. If you’ve not been successful this time, you’ll be notified via email.

5. Compliance checks

Along with a contract and other new starter documentation, you’ll receive an offer letter detailing the employment checks we require. These may include the following:

  • Right to work in the UK and proof of Identity
  • Medical clearance checks
  • Employment references
  • A Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Professional registration and qualification checks

6. Your first day

We’ll make sure you have everything you need before you start. From IT equipment and systems access to ID badges and induction training, your new line manager will make all the necessary arrangements.
